Holiday Projects
You can’t take a Lettering for the Holidays course and not have projects to show off! At the end of each Module we will be guided to make a holiday project using what we learned in that Module. For example, in Module 3: Flourishing, you will learn how, where and when to add flourishes and then you’ll make a sign to enjoy in your home! The video has step-by-step instructions, a supply list and templates to help you get creating right away.

A Whole New Perspective on Lettering
One of my goals of Lettering for the Holidays is for you to see lettering in a new way. Not only will I teach you how to letter, but I will also help train your eye to see and look for different aspects of the letters. We will analyze your own lettering as well as do Case Studies on logos and other lettering artists.
I bring in my graphic design background to help you approach lettering as drawing instead of writing. Past students say they can’t look at a billboard or a logo the same way anymore!

MEET YOUR COACH
Hi, I’m Nicole Miyuki! It’s nice to meet you!
I’ve combined my experience from teaching thousands of students in person, online and through my books to create a structure that will help you go from frustrated to feeling the joy of lettering.
With my 4-Step Framework that I am coining the Aha Moments: 1) Observe 2) Analyze 3) Exercise 4) Play —we will learn what makes different lettering styles unique. You will gain knowledge of the “Why” and “How” of different lettering styles and learn some typography and graphic design terms as well!
Then I will guide you in implementing what you have learned with your own lettering to create those holiday projects!
The 4-Step Aha Framework
This is how each Module will be structured to help you learn each Core Lesson!
STEP 1: OBSERVE
In order to change your lettering, you first need to understand and see. So often we look at other’s lettering and think it’s pretty, but can’t say why. Is it the angle, is it the shape? In each Observe video, I breakdown and help you see these nuances that will give you those big AHA moments where it clicks!
STEP 2: ANALYZE
After observing and seeing, the next step is to analyze. This is where the Worksheets come into play. We’ll first analyze your own lettering and see how you letter naturally.
Then we’ll also analyze and do "Artist Case Studies" on some lettering friends like Becca from The Happy Ever Crafter, Tara of Rad & Happy, Karla from Written Word Calligraphy, and more! You can watch a snippet of a case study here.
STEP 3: EXERCISE
The next step is to exercise those things we learned on your own lettering! I’m not here to just “show you” what to do. You are going to do the work with my help, of course, and apply what you learned to create new lettering styles. This is where it starts to come together!
STEP 4: PLAY
And finally, I’m taking the same structure from my lettering book, By Hand, where we learn a lesson and then PLAY to create an actual project. Because leaving this program with your own projects is the fun part!

The beauty is that if you are busy with little pockets of time, you can learn in 20 minute intervals — watch a video and then do a quick worksheet.
For each module, I would dedicate 1-2 hours per week to watch the videos. For the projects, it depends on how much time you want to spend. But you can definitely create these projects in an hour or so as well.
You also have lifetime access, so if life gets busy, you can revisit at any point!

You will receive a full list of supplies. However, here is the secret, I love teaching lettering using whatever supplies you have!
I am not teaching traditional calligraphy where you need a pointed pen or a brush pen to get those thin and thick lines. So you truly can use whatever your favorite lettering tool is whether it's just a marker or you prefer digital lettering on Procreate.
A light pad or tracing paper will come in handy with the printed worksheets though!

I will be covering the main holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with a whole list of different phrases to use. However, we also letter Dia de los Muertos, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and more. So this means you can use this next year as well!
